Says Webster County needs to improve child care

To the editor:

I’m reading in The Messenger that the Childcare Discovery Center will receive $600,000 over a period of years to relocate, which I applaud, however, all that grant accomplishes is to keep the status quo and a new building will require time to build and the Childcare Discovery children will need to go somewhere to go for care while it is being built. Meanwhile, 4,673 Webster County children are still without care. When is Webster County actually going to do something to improve Webster County’s child care desert?

I can remember when “Our children are our most important product” used to be quoted often.

I can remember when large multi-million-dollar companies, like some in this county, used to provide child care at the work place.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
