Calls PICA angel of FD

To the editor:

Fort Dodge has a rich tradition of volunteerism through numerous projects that include schools, churches, fundraisers, helping people in need, serving on boards, special projects, service clubs and the list goes on and on.

However, the impact of PICA in our community going on 20 years is sometimes hard to realize and truly appreciate. I receive weekly updates from PICA, before and after pictures, the number of volunteers involved and the heart-warming spirit of each and every project they complete, week after week, from April to late October. Our city would look a lot different if it weren’t for PICA and thousands of dedicated hours spent to simply beautify our great city.

People have a choice to do better, and PICA exemplifies that trait with teamwork and a heart of gold.

By the way, for those who don’t know, PICA stands for Pride In Community Appearance.

It gives me great pride to salute our angels of Fort Dodge.
