Webster County Museum needs a home

To the editor:

The Webster County Museum has many beautiful displays. If they don’t find a permanent home soon, it would be a shame that everything could be ruined. They are trying to get pledges (not actual money or checks) for a total of $500,000 to bid on the McGregors building. If you would like to make a pledge, please send amount of pledge to Webster County Museum, including your name, address, phone number, to 515 School St., Otho, IA 50569.

Most of the students in Fort Dodge have not seen the museum because Otho is too far for a field trip. I don’t know about the students from around Fort Dodge.

How much could you pledge? If your home is valued at $500,000, could you give $500? If your home is valued at $100,000 could you pledge $35?

We have a lot of wealthy people in Fort Dodge, let’s look at it another way. If 500 people would pledge $1,000 or if 1,000 people would pledge $500, we would have $500,000 in pledges. Please pledge what you can and we will make it.

On my visits to the museum I am amazed at the displays that Phyillis and others have created. If you are looking for something special, I’m sure you’ll find it. If you would like to know if it is there, give Phyllis Stewart a call at 515-972-4804 and she would know.

If you missed the large article about the Webster County Museum on the front page of the Dec. 15 Messenger, it’s worth reading.
