Says Republicans need to consider their values

To the editor:

What happened to the Iowa Republican party? Republicans have always been the party to adamantly proclaim their support for the Constitution and the editorial last week didn’t even mention the two articles for which the president was impeached. Aren’t Iowans more informed and intelligent than to become an ignorant follower of the Trump rhetoric?

The brave people that testified for impeachment are vetted, intelligent, and are attempting to protect our country along with our diplomatic leadership throughout the world. This president has attempted to block testimonies for the impeachment, he won’t release his tax returns, he’s told 15,413 false or misleading claims this year, his regulatory roll-backs and the increase in pollutants was associated with 9,700 premature deaths in 2018, cabinet members unable to pass background checks but are allowed in the administration making them vulnerable to foreign influence, he belittles veterans, special needs, women, children, people of color, does not support the FBI, CIA, or farmers, reporters, newspapers, our troops, the list is endless. He even attempted to lie about the path of a hurricane. How much more can this country endure?

The Republicans need to take a long, hard look at their values. Admiring dictators, asking foreign countries to interfere in our elections, not enforcing sanctions, and taking Russian money makes is and him weak. Support the truth and become a leader of people brave enough to maintain their ethics and not follow blindly a man that doesn’t care about you.
