Honor Flights a success

To the editor:

Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight has completed its 2019 flying season. We had two flights, May 11 and Sept. 21.

Some 300 plus veterans, World War II, Korean and Vietnam War veterans, from some 55 Iowa counties and some 208 Iowa communities participated. No major complications, just plain successful. All veterans taken and all returned safely.

It is time to thank all persons and organizations that have participated in that success. Unfortunately, it is impossible to list all that have participated in that success for fear of leaving someone out. You know who you are.

We have no corporate sponsors. However, we have many corporate donations, but our main source of funding dollars are the many individual donations, large and small, that make our project possible.

Our veterans leave from Fort Dodge Regional Airport at approximately 6:20 a.m. Saturday. It is an approximately two hour, 15 minute flight to Dulles, and they arrive back home in Fort Dodge at approximately 10:40 p.m. that same evening, exhausted, but proud and thankful for all of the kudos they have experienced that day.

Again, thank you one and all to all those who have participated in the 2019 Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight year.
