To the editor:

I am not a member of the Democratic Party. I am not a member of the Republican Party.. After having been very politically involved in the 1970s, I became disenchanted and “dropped out of the political scene.”

Today, I don’t get involved in campaigns unless I am certain the candidate is sincere, intelligent, eager, positive, and, most importantly, altruistic.

These traits cannot be assessed by the media or campaign promises, They can only be truly assessed through a personal relationship with the candidate. I have known Megan Srinivas since she was a student my talented and gifted class.at Phillips Middle School and I can personally attest to all of these things about her and more. At that young age, Megan amazed me with her “people skills” in her interactions with her peers and teachers. I witnessed her impressive approach to problem solving and her enthusiasm in meeting a challenge.

In the years since, these skills have become even more fine-tuned and developed. Attending an event where Megan is speaking, it is quickly apparent she doesn’t rely on notes or a canned speech. She speaks enthusiastically and eloquently straight from her heart. She doesn’t talk a lot about money or taxes. She never attacks an opponent. Her main focus is helping people and creating a better future for us all.

Megan is smart, strong and determined. If elected, I know she will stand her ground and do everything humanly possible (yes, really) to fulfill her commitment of making a better world for us all.

If you are disillusioned with politics and don’t vote because of it, please go to the polls and vote for Megan. Give this young woman a chance to show us that she can make a difference. You too can make a difference by voting for her. Who knows, if you vote for her and she wins, you might start believing again.
