To the editor:

The members of Letter Carriers Local 645 would like to thank all the citizens in the area for giving to our annual food drive.

Local 645 has members in Algona, Carroll, Clarion, Eagle Grove, Emmetsburg, Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Laurens, Rockwell City, Rolfe, Sac City and Storm Lake and all reported that they collected more food this year than last.

In Fort Dodge we would like to thank Hy-Vee for the sacks we were able to deliver to each house and for the doughnuts they gave that day. Also, thank you to The Messenger for the article on the food drive and to the radio stations and Mediacom for getting the word out. Also thank you to the Fort Dodge cheerleaders for help unloading, sorting and delivering the items collected.

We collected 9,197 pounds Saturday and we would not have been able to do it without the people who gave so generously. Again thanks to all who gave and helped.
