Weighs in on presidential race

To the editor:

A recent pro-Hillary ad portrays a woman member of a Gold Star family saying she was outraged after Trump’s recent comments about the Khizr Khan family. In the ad a quantum leap was made in connecting Trump’s back-and-forth words with Mr. Khan and Mr. Khan’s being a member of a Gold Star family. I am a member of a Gold Star family and I don’t recall Trump during his spat with Mr. Khan making any reference or making any direct connection to the Khan’s being a Gold Star family. Mr. Khan, by the way, neglected to reveal Hillary’s support for the war in which his son died 14 years ago.

Donald Trump has said a lot of dumb things. His words no doubt have caused emotional or mental stress. But in time emotional or mental stress can be healed.

On the other hand, failed diplomacy in the Middle East when Hillary was secretary of state has caused much more than emotional or mental stress. Hillary failed to answer repeated requests for additional security in Benghazi that ultimately led to the murders, during a terrorist attack, of four Americans (one of which, the Ambassador, was her friend no less). Hillary has said that there was not enough time to respond. Remember, the battle raged for more than seven hours and no help was sent. Hillary went back to sleep and Obama flew off to a fundraiser. Hillary supported Obama when the red line was drawn in Syria and when there was no response when Assad “crossed” the line thousands of Syrians died since then and hundreds of thousands fled to Europe. Many of those same refugees, with the risk of terrorists being among them, will be approved to enter the country under Hillary’s immigration proposals. Hillary supported the push to remove Gaddafi from power in Libya where ISIS now has a strong presence. And being a day late and a dollar short we are now bombing ISIS in Libya. Since Gaddafi’s removal from power hundreds, perhaps thousands, have died. Hillary voted to go to war in Iraq. We know what misery and deaths have been the result. And now, another day late and a dollar short, we are back in Iraq trying to recover from Obama’s premature withdrawal in 2011.

Donald Trump did not have a vote and was not involved in the failed diplomacy that has resulted in so much more death and destruction in the Middle East.
