Group with compelling list of accomplishments is honored
Iowa Central Community College added new members to Hall of Fame
Since it opened more than 50 years ago, Iowa Central Community College has had students who excel in the classrooms, labs and shops and also in the venues of athletic competition. It has also produced graduates who went on to distinguished careers in public service, business, health care and just about every other field of human endeavor.
The school has a Hall of Fame to honor its outstanding students, faculty, staff members, and alumni. Each year, a select few are inducted. This year’s induction ceremony was held Nov.9.
The inductees are:
• Mark Campbell, an Iowa Central graduate who is a business owner and a Webster County supervisor.
• Melvin Schroeder, who joined the Iowa Central faculty in 1967 and retired in 2001 as vice president for academic affairs.
• Great Western Dining Services, which has contributed more than $1 million in support of the college’s initiatives.
• Barb Crooks, who is the college’s all-time women’s basketball leader in scoring, rebounds and blocked shots.
• Darrelyn Dunn, who rushed for 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2010.
• Bobby Thompson, who was an All-American wrestler at Iowa Central and is the longtime wrestling coach at Fort Dodge Senior High School
• The 2009 men’s wrestling team which won the NJCAA championship
The accomplishments of this group are diverse and compelling.
We join Iowa Central Community College in congratulating the newest members of its Hall of Fame.
