Lunch on Central is coming
Enjoy good food and fun in the heart of downtown Fort Dodge
There will be some good eating during a picnic to be held in the 700 block of Central Avenue Friday.
We are, of course, referring to Lunch on Central which will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the alley between The Messenger building and the Webster County Courthouse in the 700 block of Central Avenue.
The menu will include pork grilled by the Webster County Pork Producers, potato salad, chips and bottled water, all for $8.
Trinity United Methodist Church will offer desserts.
If all that food isn’t enough of an enticement to attend, consider this: a drawing will be held for two free tickets to the Sept. 16 Downtown Country Jam.
Lunch on Central is an activity of Main Street Fort Dodge. It uses food as a way to help people get familiar with the downtown, the businesses located there and the people who live and work there.
This is the new version of what some residents will recall as Lunch on the Square. The action has just moved east from the City Square to the 700 block of Central Avenue.
The Webster County Pork Producers is the sponsor of this week’s Lunch on Central. The potato salad and chips will be provided by The Dairiette. Pelham Blue Ribbon Water will provide the water.
Friday’s event will be the first such lunch of the summer. Additional lunches will be held on the last Fridays of July and August.
The Messenger enthusiastically supports Lunch on Central. We urge our readers to make plans to join in the fun Friday. This promises to be a great way to grab a tasty lunch and enjoy being outdoors on a fine summer day. It’s also an opportunity to get reacquainted with downtown Fort Dodge if you haven’t spent time there lately.
And after this Friday, we suspect you’ll want add to your calendar noontime on the last Friday of July and August. Lunch on Central is something not to be missed.
