Get out and vote Tuesday
Primary election will reduce candidates for at-large council seat
There are exciting things going on in Fort Dodge. Fort Dodge and Webster County are well-positioned to prosper if creative leaders in government and the private sector leverage assets and resources appropriately to take advantage of the very real opportunities for business and commercial development.
That’s why the election process is so important.
In Fort Dodge, a special election process begins Tuesday with a primary election to trim down the field of candidates seeking to complete the term of an at-large seat on the Fort Dodge City Council.
The candidates are Kyrie Borsay, Steven Hansen, Richard Higgins, Wayne Mason, Zach Moore, Eugene Newsome, Megan Secor and Jim Seward.
The two candidates who get the most votes will be the only ones to advance to the Feb. 7 special general election. The winner of the Feb. 7 vote will serve on the council for the rest of 2023.
This at-large council seat will be on the ballot again in the November general election, and the winner will serve a full term.
In Fort Dodge, at-large members of the City Council serve four-year terms.
On Tuesday, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be just two polling places: the Fort Dodge Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., and the Fort Dodge Community School District Central Office, 109 N. 25th St.
People may vote at whichever location is convenient for them.
The individuals voters choose to serve on the council will help decide whether the exciting options that exist materialize or slip from our grasp. That means that Tuesday is the day for Fort Dodge voters to start making their opinions known by voting.
Show your commitment to the future by voting in Tuesday’s election. Those who cast a ballot will help shape the future of our city.
