LifeWorks fundraiser is tonight

In-person event offers fun way to support important group

A fun way to support a local organization that serves the disabled returns to a live, in-person format tonight.

It’s called A Night for LifeWorks. It was a regular tradition in Fort Dodge for years, providing entertainment and raising money for LifeWorks Community Services, which provides daily living and employment supports to about 200 people living with disabilities. The pandemic forced the event to become an online one for the last two years.

Tonight, however, it will return to its traditional live, in-person format with a musical competition very much like what you would see on “America’s Got Talent.”

A Night for LifeWorks will be at Fort Frenzy, 3232 First Ave. S. The action will start at 5 p.m. with a social hour. Light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be offered. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., with entertainment and a testimonial speaker to follow.

That entertainment will consist of local musicians, including Jesse Wilson and Scott Kirkhart, performing. The people in the audience will vote with their money to decide who is the best entertainer of the evening. All of that money will go to the LifeWorks Charitable Foundation, which supports LifeWorks Community Services.

Tickets are $40 and are available at www.eventbrite.com or at LifeWorks vocational site, 1303 A St.

A silent auction is well underway to support LifeWorks as well. To see the items and place bids, go to www.32auctions.com/lifeworks2022. The silent auction concludes at 8 p.m. today.

LifeWorks has an outstanding reputation for serving our friends and neighbors who need some extra support as they strive to live life to their fullest potential. The organization is worthy of broad support.

We encourage everyone to participate. The fundraiser provides an opportunity to hear some great local musicians, have fun and acquire some nice auction items, all while supporting a great cause.
