Group with compelling list of accomplishments to be honored

Iowa Central Community College to add new members to Hall of Fame

Since it opened a little more than 50 years ago, Iowa Central Community College has had students who excel in the classrooms, labs and shops and also in the venues of athletic competition. It has also produced graduates who went on to distinguished careers in public service, business, health care and just about every other field of human endeavor.

The school has a Hall of Fame to honor its outstanding students, faculty and staff members, and alumni. Each year, a select few are inducted. This year’s induction ceremony will be held on Oct. 22.

The inductees are:

• 2007 and 2008 womens cross country teams, which were the first womens teams to win national titles

• Morgan Brown Angotti, who played volleyball, golf and basketball, earning regional and national honors.

• Tanner Aus, a standout on the college’s rodeo team who is now a national rodeo competitor who is ranked seventh in the world bareback standings

• Dan Casady, who was the college’s director of instrumental activities from 1995 to 2006 and taught at every educational institution in Fort Dodge.

• Sessions Harlan, a two-time all-region basketball player who served as a Denver police officer for 30 years and led the department’s tactical team for nine of those years.

• Joseph LeValley, who held a number of executive positions in health care and became a published novelist after retiring.

• Lisa Shimkat, who is the state director of the Small Business Development Center and a member of the Fort Dodge Community School District Board of Education.

The accomplishments of this group are diverse and compelling.

We join Iowa Central Community College in congratulating the newest members of its Hall of Fame.
