It’s time for Greater Crater Days

Return of event promises food, fun and music

For some good fun this weekend, check out a party named after a big hole in the ground.

Of course, we are talking about Manson Greater Crater Days.

There will be lots of traditional events like the parade, spelling bee, games, and activities. The special highlight this year will be the Crash My Crater concert.

The action starts Friday evening with a cookout at Heartland Bank. The spelling bee, pet parade and regular parade follow later that evening. Truck and tractor pulls will cap off the day.

Saturday’s events will include a car show, horseshoe tournament, dunk tank, sumo wrestling suits, mega pong, connect four and bingo. There will be a food court to feed hungry folks.

Gates for the Crash My Crater concert open at 4 p.m. Saturday on Main Street by Shore Side Pub and Grub. Performers will include Cory Waller and the Wicked Things, Scott Kirkhart, Jameson Rodgers and Niko Moon. Rodgers and Moon are both up and coming country singers. Some may be already familiar with their music. Chances are good that country music fans will be hearing a lot more from them in the years to come.

After a year in which there were basically no organized fun things to do, it’s time to get out and enjoy the events and festivals that are taking place this summer. So head on over to Manson Friday and Saturday for fun, games and good country music.
