LifeWorks fundraiser starts tonight

Virtual event offers fun way to support important group

A unique way to support a local organization that serves the disabled gets underway today.

It’s called The Ultimate Virtual Fundraiser for the LifeWorks Charitable Foundation. Teresa Naughton, the executive director of LifeWorks, sums up its purpose as ”raising funds and raising friends.”

The fundraiser begins at 7 p.m. today with video testimonials and the opening of a silent auction that will continue through 8:30 p.m. Nov. 5. Items up for bid include jewelry from Kirkberg Connections, a weekend stay in a yurt and food from Sisters Homestyle Entrees.

There’s lots more to this fundraiser, however. Art lessons, dance lessons, an introduction to the finer points of wine tasting and a cooking class are on the agenda.

At 7 p.m. Nov. 5 there will be a livestream of a talent show in which viewers will determine the winner with their donation dollars.

A post-event celebration will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 6.

All elements of the fundraiser can be viewed on lifeworkscommunityservices.org.

LifeWorks has an outstanding reputation for serving our friends and neighbors who need some extra support as they strive to live life to their fullest potential. The organization is worthy of broad support.

Unfortunately, like so many other worthwhile events, the typical Lifeworks fundraiser was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why this unique virtual event was created.

We encourage everyone to participate. The fundraiser provides an opportunity to learn some things, have fun and acquire some nice auction items, all while supporting a great cause.
