Passed away on October 9th, 2026 at home surrounded by loved ones. Mike was born on February 16th, 1961. He graduated from Johnson High School in 1979, and he earned his bachelor's degree in finance from St. Thomas College. Mike worked as an Account Executive Officer at St. Paul Companies/Travelers; retiring 42 years to the day he began. The majority of his adult life was spent in Eagan and Rosemount, where he raised his family. He's very proud to have grown up on the East Side of St. Paul. He affectionately expressed; "Once an Eastsider, always an Eastsider". Mike was a long-time member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Mike is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Caitlin Nelson (Jacob), Brenden McCann (Bri), Meghan Gerardi (David), and Kalee Nerhus (Jacob); grandchildren, Hendrix, Sawyer, Emery, Tucker, Paige, Theo, and Clover, who brought him immense joy; sister, Mickey Danielson; brother, Kelly McCann (Mary Ann); cousins, Tim and Jeff Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Joan McCann; his sister Mina Swanson; and brothers-in-law, Loren Swanson, and Lew Danielson. Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Friday, October 23rd at the CHURCH OF ST. JOHN NEUMANN, 4030 Pilot Knob Rd. at Deerwood Dr. in Eagan. Visitations 4-7PM Thursday, October 22nd at KLECATSKY & SONS WEST CHAPEL, 1051 So. Robert St. at Arion in West St. Paul with a Prayer Service at 6PM and also 1 hr. prior to Mass at church. Interment 11AM Saturday, October 24th at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Clare, Iowa.
