Aaron “Spanky” Swanson, 50, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday September 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Survivors include his sons Christopher Remington and Hunter Swanson, mother Gayle Swanson, brother David Swanson, and his nephew Braxton Swanson.
He was preceded by his father Dennis Swanson, brother Patrick Swanson, niece Keirstyn Swanson, grandparents Donald and Mary Knieriem, and LaVern and Rose Swanson.
Aaron Lee Swanson was born on February 16, 1976 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1994. Spanky then attended and graduated from Iowa Central Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree in food marketing. For a short time Spanky worked at Hy-Vee in the meat department. He then went on to work for Alco Corp, Hovey Construction, and most recently Castor Construction as a mechanic. Spanky loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed collecting coins and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Spanky had a great way of telling stories and making everyone laugh.
