Harold Murray

Harold K. Murray, 66, of Dayton, IA, died Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Grandview Care Center in Dayton. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Future details to follow on Facebook. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. Harold was born April 18, 1960, in Fort Dodge, the son of William A. and Esther I. (Knox) Murray. He graduated from Central Webster High School in Burnside in 1978, and continued his education at Iowa Central Community College (Farm Power). In 2017, he earned his AA from Iowa Valley Community College in Grinnell for Gunsmithing. Over the years, he worked for several local businesses including the Freeman Journal in Webster City (18 years), J.P. Byson Oil Co. and R & J Material Handling in Fort Dodge as well as farming on the side. He retired in 2015. Harold enjoyed working on guns, antique motorcycles, history, and reading Westerns. He was a member of the West Central Region Cockshutt and Co-Op Club and enjoyed antique tractors and farming equipment.

Harold is survived by 2 children: Erin Murray (Kado Kunz) of Lehigh and Emily Dutcher (Derrick) of Lehigh; 4 grandchildren: Marissa Dutcher, Mylah Dutcher, Knox Morriss and Harrison Dutcher; 5 siblings: Marty Murray of Dayton, Sylvia Pigman (Darrell) of Lehigh, Susan Thompson (Keith) of Arizona, William Murray (Tracy) of Stratford, and Stephanie Jones (Rodney) of Dayton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Andrew Murray.
