Mark Raphael Crimmins, 64, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday. July 27th at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Holy Trinity Church.

Mark was born on July 21, 1961, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Leo and Genevieve Crimmins. He was raised in Fort Dodge and attended Sacred Heart Grade School before graduating from St. Edmond Catholic High School in 1979. He continued his education at Creighton University School of Law earning both his Bachelor of Business and Juris Doctorate in six years.
In August 1985, Mark married his best gal, Nancy Zaccone. Together they built a life in Fort Dodge centered on faith, family, friendship, and service to others. They were blessed with four loving children.
Mark began his legal career as an Assistant Webster County Attorney, serving from 1985 to 1987. He then joined the Bennett Law Firm, where he remained in private practice for nearly four decades. Through years of dedication and hard work, the firm evolved into what is known today as Crimmins & Kehm Law Firm. In 2016, Crimmins & Kehm expanded their professional endeavors by purchasing Snell Settlement Company, which they continued to operate. Since 2011, he faithfully served the citizens of Fort Dodge as City Attorney, a role he held with professionalism, integrity, and a deep commitment to the community.
Beyond his legal career, Mark was a tireless volunteer and civic leader. He generously gave his time to numerous organizations, coached countless youth sports teams, and served on multiple boards and committees in the community. The most notable accomplishments were his service on the Iowa Central Community College Board of Trustees, where he served for 31 years, including as Board President, the Northwest Bank Board of Trustees for 23 years, and the St. Edmond School Board for 10 years. Mark believed in the importance of education and more so Catholic education. He was always one of the Bluejays', Tritons', and Gaels' biggest fans. Mark greatly valued these institutions and the opportunities they presented to our youth.
While Mark was proud of his professional accomplishments and community involvement, his greatest joy came from his family. Above all else, he cherished being a husband, father, and grandfather, and he treasured every opportunity to support his children and grandchildren, whether cheering from the sidelines, attending sporting events, sharing meals together, or simply enjoying time with those he loved most. Mark will be remembered as a dedicated attorney, respected leader, trusted friend, and devoted family man whose willingness to help others quietly made Fort Dodge a better place.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Leo Crimmins; his brothers, Mike Crimmins and Dave Crimmins; father and mother in-law, Martin and Mary Jane Zaccone, brothers in law Dale Stucky and Joe Zaccone, and nephew Paul Zaccone.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 41 years, Nancy Crimmins; his children, Jake (Jen) Crimmins of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mandy (Ryan) Kehm of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Megan (Matthew) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Claire Crimmins of Atlanta, Georgia; and his nine cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Genevieve Crimmins of Fort Dodge; his siblings, Karen Stucky, Denny (Maureen) Crimmins, Kevin (Kathy) Crimmins, all of Fort Dodge, Mary Jo (Craig) Friederich of Forest City, Iowa and his sister in law Julie Crimmins of Fort Dodge, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.
His legacy of service, generosity, integrity, and love will continue through the many lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set for his family, friends, profession, and community will endure for generations.
Memorials may be left to St. Edmond Catholic High School and to the discretion of the family.
