Marilyn Oberhelman

Marilyn Ann (Bohn) Oberhelman, 82, of Manson, died peacefully at Pocahontas Hospital on June 29, 2026, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 5th, 2026, from 4-6:45 PM with a short service at 7 PM at Gunderson Weishaar Chapel in Manson.

Marilyn Ann Bohn was born July 22, 1943, on the family farm west of Manson to Carl and Edith Bohn.

Marilyn attended country school until entering high school in Manson. She attended a semester of college in Goshen, IN, and a semester in Hesston, KS, before returning to Manson to marry the love of her life, Richard Oberhelman. They married in 1962 and celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2025. They began their family in 1963 having Lisa and less than 2 years later twins Kim and Kris. She worked alongside her husband farming and raising cattle, pigs, and chickens.

She was an avid seamstress and quilter. Marilyn belonged to several quilt guilds but most recently treasured her time sewing donation quilts with the ladies at Augustana Lutheran Church in Manson. For 30 years she operated her longarm quilting business, completing as many as 300 quilts per year. She loved gardening, making quilts, spending time with family and friends, and doing word search puzzles with Richard.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents Carl and Edith Bohn, brothers Allen, Wayne, and Don, brother-in-law Alvin Bunger and sister-in-law Lilah Bohn.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Lang, Manson; Kim (Paul) Quade, Manson; and Kris (Bryan) Reicks, Newton, IA; 9 grandchildren and soon-to-be 16 great-grandchildren, 3 sister-in-laws and many precious nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Pocahontas Healthcare Foundation.
