Barbara Loehr

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fulton Township Cemetery near Moorland. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jeff (Lorie) Loehr of Moorland, Carol (David) Richmond of Indianola, Marcella Loehr of Rosemount, MN; grandchildren Dante (Annie) Richmond, Danielle Richmond, Ashley (Tanner) Bachman, Leslie (Andrew) Loehr-Kicklighter; great-grandchildren Theo and Maddie Bachman, and Roslynn Richmond.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Helen (Vosika) Slama, husband Richard in October of 2025, brother Eugene Slama, and grandchild, Melissa Loehr.

Barbara Slama was born February 23, 1934, in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Callender and graduated from Callender High School. She then attended A.I.B School in Des Moines. On a night out on the town, she met Richard Loehr at the Laramar. The couple were married on March 31, 1957. They made their home on the Loehr family farm. Barbara was a loving homemaker that raised three children and helped Richard run the farm. She loved cooking, gardening, canning, and even published a cookbook of her own. She was an avid bridge player.
