James Schnetter

James L. Schnetter, aged 87, of Tucson, AZ passed away on May 28, 2026, while traveling in Kansas.

James Lawrence was born November 13, 1938 on a farm north of Varina, IA. He was the son of Nicholas Lawrence and Lillian (Aigner) Schnetter. Jim graduated from Varina St. Columbkille High School in 1957. He enlisted in the US Army for 3 years serving the first year at Fort Carson, CO and Camp McCoy, WI before being stationed in Vicenza, Italy for a two-year tour.

Jim successfully completed 37 years under a Star Route contract with the United States Postal Service. He retired to Tucson AZ enjoying life in the desert with family and friends.

Jim was married in St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church Pocahontas, IA to Vicki Peiffer in 1966 while living in Fort Dodge, IA. To this union, he was blessed with 2 daughters Cynthia and Pamela.

Survivors include Vicki, Cynthia Schnetter O’Neal, and Pamela; grandson Christopher O’Neal with great grandson Finn and great granddaughter Lillian; grandson James Schnetter with great grandsons James and Jayce; sister Lucille Gamble; nephew Michael Pruter and two nieces Mary Kay Schnetter and Laurie Gamble, cousins and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Lillian Aigner Schnetter; wife Sherlyn Henrich of Laurens, baby Tammy, son Roger Allen Rose of Council Bluffs; brothers Robert, Dennis, Edward, Leonard; sisters Kathleen Schnetter and Darlene Pruter; nieces Stephanie Gamble and Carol Pruter; nephews Henry Schnetter and Fred Schnetter.
