Daniel J. Sauter, 79, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26th, at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Shelly of Badger, daughter Tracy (Tony) Trotter, son Troy (Angela) Sauter, stepdaughter Katie (Jeff) Loseke, stepsons Joe (Melissa) Carle and Josh Carle, grandchildren Madyson Gailey, Zach (Toryn) Gailey, Lizzie Gailey, Caroline Sauter and step grandchildren Michael Carle, Makayla Carle, Addie Loseke, Emma Loseke, Gavin Carle, Brayden Carle, and Kolten McCullough, 5 great grandchildren Nash, Brooks, Gus, Kiah and Ollie, 4 brothers Larry (Sue) Sauter of Arlington, TX; Terry (Janet) Sauter of Omaha, NE; Jack Sauter of Rancho Mirage, CA; and Bill (Ann) Sauter of Elkorn, NE; sisters-in-law Deb Friesth, Jenny Halstead, Marna Lawler, and Deana Gudmoson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Valeria (Schuller) Sauter, sister-in-law Sally Sauter, and mother-in-law Verla Bloomquist.
Daniel Joseph Sauter was born on June 20, 1947, the eldest of 5 boys to Ed and Val Sauter in Varina, IA. In 1966, he graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School. Daniel then attended business college for 1 year at the University of Omaha. He was united in marriage to Connie Hood and the couple were later divorced. In 1988, he married Shelly Carle and the couple established their home in Badger. Daniel had a long career with Goodyear as a salesman, after leaving Goodyear worked for Bob Allendar Concrete and then retired from Fort Dodge Asphalt. The family would like to express their gratefulness for the care and attention shown by St. Croix Hospice in these past few days.
