Milly Thies

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM following the visitation, also at Friendship Haven.

Milly was born on September 17, 1935, in Auburn Nebraska to Albert Merle Sanders and Fern Leone (Pumel) Sanders. She grew up in Nebraska and later made her home in Iowa, moving to Fort Dodge in 1972. On April 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to John Edward Thies. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and hard work.

Milly worked for Kersten Publishing Company as an office manager for many years. She was known for her friendly nature and enjoyed staying connected with family and friends throughout her life.

In her free time, Milly was a master gardener who took great pride in her flowers and gardens, with an exceptional ability to identify all varieties of perennials she encountered. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time visiting with friends and relatives. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren and took great pride in watching her family grow through the generations.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne L. (Tom) Kramer of Virginia; her son, Roger M. (Cindy) Thies of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her grandchildren, Kelly (Adrienne) Kramer, Sean (Christopher) Bacon, and Megan Marie Thies; and great-grandchildren, Rhys, Gavin, Griffyn, Beckham and Londyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Edward Thies; siblings, John Sanders, Rosa Lee Ulrich, Grace Arline Wegal and Alberta Leone Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for their discretion.
