Lois J. Howland

Lois J. Howland, 83, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Marian Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at Rolling Hills Community Church. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Lois is survived by her husband Roger, son Brent Howland and his wife Tammy of Mason City, daughter Abigail Berger and her husband George of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Isabelle Berger, Alex Berger, Caleb Howland, Samuel Howland; siblings Luaine Oleson, Linda Perkins, Marilyn Dennis, Don Weiland, and Monna Quinn.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Dorothea (Jensen) Weiland.

Lois Jeanne Weiland was born September 7, 1942, in Garner, Iowa. She was raised, educated, and graduated from Garner High School in 1960. In 1964, Lois graduated from Trinity College in Chicago with a degree is Elementary Education. On July 3, 1965, Lois was united in marriage to Roger Howland. In 1967, Lois and Roger made Fort Dodge their home, where Lois taught kindergarten for the Fort Dodge Community School District until 1969. Together the couple owned and operated Town and Country Veterinary, where Lois was the office manager from 1973 until 2008. Lois taught cooking classes at ICCC, used her creativity creating stained glass artwork with her daughter Abby, and was a musician for First Evangelical Free Church for many years.
