Alan Thorson

Memorial visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. Wednesday until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.

Alan Kent Thorson, son of Archie and Shirley (Dasen) Thorson, was born on November 18, 1950. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and enlisted, serving four years in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return he also served 20 years with the Army Guard. While in the military he served in multiple countries in Europe, including Kosovo, and Lake Saint Clair on the Canadian border.

Alan was united in marriage to Kathy Crouse on September 4, 1982. He was employed with Celotex, retiring after 30 years.

Alan is cherished for his gentle nature, patient demeanor, sharp intellect, affection for animals, mechanical abilities, unwavering faith, and his delight in ice cream.

Survivors include his wife Kathy, daughter Christy (Jason) Lumsden, grandchildren Ashlyn and Nolan, his sister Sherri (John) Josephson and brother Scott Thorson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Animal Rescue League or Wounded Warrior Project.
