Scott Alan Hilbert, the son of Dennis and Barbara (Watters) Hilbert, was born April 8, 1963, in Colorado. He attended school in Fort Dodge and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1982. Shortly after graduation, Scott proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country for four years.

On August 27, 1983, Scott married the love of his life, Janet Nilles. Together they built a life and home in Fort Dodge, sharing over four decades of marriage, partnership, and family. Scott worked as a truck driver for more than 38 years, dedicating himself to providing for the people he loved most.

Scott’s greatest joy in life was his family. He deeply loved his wife, Janet, and was a proud and devoted father and grandfather. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

Over the years, he and his family made many memories camping, boating, and fishing together filled with fun stories and the simple joy of being together outdoors. Scott also had a love of bowling that began in junior high and stayed with him throughout his life.

He was also a loyal sports fan who cheered passionately for the Iowa Hawkeyes (all sports), the Chicago Cubs, and the Denver Broncos. He also loved WWE wrestling.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his children, Anthony (Anna) Hilbert and Jessica (Justin) Coon; and his cherished grandchildren, John and Jace Coon. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Hilbert; his siblings, Sheryl (Mark) Campbell and David (Kristy) Hilbert; his in-laws Wayne Nilles, Holly (Steve) Pierce, Larry (Vicki) Nilles, Julie (Lyle) Strickland, and Cheryl (Kevin) Campe; along with many nieces and nephews who will remember him lovingly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Dennis Hilbert, his grandson Kyle Hilbert, and his mother-in-law Donnavieve Nilles and father-in-law Melvin Nilles.

Scott will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to those he cared about, and the many memories he created with the people who meant the most to him.

Because Scott was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Broncos, the family invites everyone attending his services to wear clothing representing these teams.
