Lorie Spanjers

Lorie was born on September 15, 1955, to Mary Dee and Peter Spanjers. As one of five children that Mary Dee and Peter had, she grew up surrounded by love and sibling camaraderie. She graduated from Schuyler Central High School in Schuyler, NE in 1973. She continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa were she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education and later her Masters Degree. She contributed 40+ years to the education field, primarily for AEA of Fort Dodge. Lorie also was the Secretary for the Webster County Democrats and a Board Member of Friends of Fort Dodge Library. When she wasn’t working Lorie could be found playing golf or tennis, playing and teaching bridge, and traveling the world.

Lorie is survived by her brother, Matt (Ann) Spanjers; her sisters, Leanne (Steve) Wiemer, Jan (Bob) McNally, Jodee Leach; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Dee and Peter Spanjers; and her partner, Rick Pieper.

Lorie was well loved and she will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
