June Algoe

June Algoe, 102, passed away January 31, 2026, at the Simpson Center of Friendship Haven.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Interment will be held in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are entrusted with the arrangements.

June Abbott was born April 10, 1923, in Webster City, Iowa. The family moved to Vincent area when she was 8 years old. She attended Colfax #2 school and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1941. On December 20, 1947, she married Douglas Algoe at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa and they made their home on his grandmother’s farm in Duncombe area. They moved to Fort Dodge in 1953.

June did office work for 30 years. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday school, Altar Guild and belonged to Jay Circle.

June loved her flower garden, roses and yardwork. She loved her family and was always interested in all they did. Some became like her grandchildren, even her neighbors’ children.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Algoe, husband Douglas “Babe”, her parents Nathan and Lora (Rhoer) Abbott, her siblings Daisy Kiewiet, Ruth Johnson, Helen Zenor, Dale Abbott and Chester Abbott.
