Velma Iles

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Tompkins Celebration Center of Friendship Haven. Pastor Deb and Pastor Greg Stano will be officiating. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are entrusted with the arrangements.

Velma Jean Sorber was born on August 14, 1933, to Edwin and Opal Pearl (Bennett) Sorber. She married Freddie Iles in 1951. He passed in 2010.

Velma ran a daycare in her home for 11 years and was employed at Trinity Regional Hospital for 10 ½ years.

Survivors are daughters Linda Peterson and Janet Behrens of Fort Dodge, Elaine (Rick) Gates of Ohio, Beth Anne (Mike) Smith of Ankeny. She was “Granda Iles” to nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Siblings Judy Anderson, Mylin Sorber, Vernon Sorber and Phyllis Bender.
