Sheila (Hergenreter)Woodard

Sheila Woodard, age 67, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at her home in Greeley, Colorado–the city she loved deeply and always considered her true home. Born in Fort Dodge on April 9, 1958. Family moved to Hollister; California and she attended Sacred Heart School in Hollister. Family returned to Fort Dodge where she attended Corpus Christi school. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1976. Sheila carried an adventurous spirit that first brought her to Greeley as a young woman. Though life’s journey later took her to Louisiana and Texas, her heart remained in Colorado. She eventually returned to Greeley, where she spent her final years surrounded by the place, people, and comforts she cherished most.

Sheila was a nurturer at heart. Her love for animals and gardening reflected her natural ability to care for and sustain life. Whether tending her garden or caring for her beloved animals, she had a rare gift for making things grow and thrive. This same devotion defined her as a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride, and she poured her heart into supporting, guiding, and caring for them in both quiet and steadfast ways.

Sheila was a steady, dependable presence–someone her loved ones could always count on. Her siblings will remember her as the one who kept the family roots strong, no matter the distance. Blending Midwestern kindness with Southern hospitality, she embodied resilience, warmth, and quiet strength. She found her greatest happiness back in Colorado, surrounded by her family and her beloved dogs, Belle and Cujo.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Thed; her sons, Mason and Taylor (wife Cassie); and her grandchildren, Halle, Callen, Kieran, and Rylie. She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Ledford (Jim), Sandy Cooper (Mike), and Stacey Hergenreter; and her brothers, Steve Hergenreter (Tina), Scott Hergenreter (Lisa), and Stuart Hergenreter (Maridon).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Dee Hergenreter, and her grandson, Emmett.

A celebration of life will be held in April in Greeley.
