He is preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Marie (Hogan) Nash, and his brother, Bill Nash.

Mike Nash was born on October 15, 1950, in Fort Dodge. He attended Corpus Christi school, later graduating from St. Edmond High School. He went on to attend the University of Iowa. On May 25, 1974, Mike was united in marriage to Kathleen Broghamer in Decorah and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge.

Mike worked his entire career in sales in the automotive parts industry. He started at the Sieg Fort Dodge Company, later Tenneco Automotive and other companies that allowed him to travel the state, meeting new people and making connections with customers and co-workers until his retirement in 2015. Soon after his retirement, Mike was hired as the club house manager at Lakeside Golf Course. Working at the golf course gave him the chance to meet new people and reconnect with familiar faces until his second retirement at the end of the golf season in 2022. Mike loved golf in every form. He loved playing it and talking about it with anyone who was interested, from college buddies and local friends to co-workers, customers, and his own kids. He also enjoyed building starter golf sets for his grandchildren. Most Sunday afternoons after mowing the lawn were spent watching a tournament on TV before dozing off into a nap.

Mike was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Hawkeye football season was one of his favorite parts of the year. He always looked forward to going to games at Kinnick, seeing friends in Iowa City, and hosting tailgates. He loved watching St. Edmond sports when his children played. He always looked forward to family trips and finding good restaurants, but any night he was home in Fort Dodge, he was firing up the grill in the driveway, rain or shine.

More recently in life he found a new favorite thing, which was the attention “Papa Mike” received from his grandchildren. He passed on his love of ice cream and candy to them, who never skipped a chance to visit the Dariette with their grandpa. He was quick with a smile and never missed a chance to share a laugh, and even in his absence, his sense of humor and warmth will continue with those who knew him.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
