Richard J. “Rich” Bestick
Richard James “Rich” Bestick, 78, of Green Bay, WI died Saturday, December 13, 2025. He was born June 17, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa to Paul and Betty (Scace) Bestick.
Rich was a graduate of Iowa State University earning a degree in chemical engineering. He began working for Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio, and finally in Green Bay, WI where he met Sandy Macco. Rich and Sandy were married on September 1, 1978. Rich eventually worked for Valmet in Appleton, retiring at 55. Rich served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1972 to 1977. He owned and operated many rental properties and was known to be able to fix anything. Rich loved swimming and teaching his grandchildren how to swim and to see how far each one could swim underwater. His #1 passion was his computers. Rich was able to take them apart, put them back together and make them do things before anyone else could.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sandy; his son, Mike Bestick; step-daughters, Terry (Lee) Bailey, Holly (Gary) Duquaine, and Patty Danek (fiance Rob Varga); grandchildren, Tara (Chad) Pigeon, Alex (Jacqui) Bailey, Alyson Bailey, Lily Duquaine, Emma Duquaine, and Tyler Varga; great-grandchildren, Elle, Lainy, Adley, Vivian, Rylie, (and a baby boy due in February); sister, Paula Johnson; brother, Kevin (Lori) Bestick; sisters-in-law, Diane (Herman) Delfosse and Linda (Keith) Kaebisch; best friend, John Marshall; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Bruce Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Delores Macco.
Services were held at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, 2770 Bay Settlement Road, Town of Scott, WI on Friday, December 19th. Online condolences may be given at www.prokowall.com. Donations made to benefit Alzheimer’s Association in Rich’s name would be greatly appreciated.
