Michael “Mike” McCarville
 
								Michael “Mike” McCarville, 71, of Twin Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A funeral service outside of Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorland. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Michael was born in Fort Dodge on November 10, 1953, to Bernard and Loretta (Buttz) McCarville. He attended school in Gowrie where he graduated from Prairie High School. He went on to attend Iowa Central Community College, UNI and graduated from ISU with a Master of Business Administration. He was united in marriage to Terry Johnson on January 9, 1976, in Fort Dodge. At that time, they made their home in Laurens for two years while he taught business and coached basketball. He also was a referee for basketball, traveling the state for different games. In 1979 they moved to Fort Dodge where he began working for his father-in-law’s company RoJohns. Mike was elected for the first time in 1984 as the Mayor of Fort Dodge and was a member of numerous organizations including Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, Webster County Development, the Development Corporation of Greater Fort Dodge, the Homebuilders Association and Remodelers Advantage. In 1995 Terry took over RoJohns and Mike joined her in 2002. Mike loved his work and everything about it, he considered customers as friends. In 2006 they bought a place at Twin Lakes where they built their dream home in 2012. In his free time, he enjoyed photography, reading and was an all-around student of life who loved trying and learning new skills. He enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, traveling and living life in Iowa. Mike never met a stranger, he enjoyed meeting people and was genuinely interested in what people had going on in their lives. Mike had fun planning the secret family vacations that they took every summer, that were announced with a surprise slideshow at Christmas. He loved spending time with his family and cherished his time with his grandchildren. Mike loved his life and often said he wouldn’t trade places with anyone. He truly was “The Happiest Man”.
Michael is survived by his wife Terry; sons Nicholas (Agnes) McCarville; Braydon (Maghan) McCarville; grandchildren Mila, Ryan, Dylan, Hayden and Myer; his siblings Katie (Dave) Lewis, Pat (Lori) McCarville, Jean (Al) Helmers, Joan (Gordon) Blair, Mary Ann (Bob) Bixler, Teresa (Tom) Youngworth, Joe McCarville (fiancee Jihyun), Annie (Bill) Barkley, Dennis (Michelle) McCarville and Sheila (Al) Huebsch; in-laws James (Mary) Johnson and Ann Johnson along with NUMEROUS nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Loretta McCarville.
