Dr. Clay Beggerly

Dr. Clay Beggerly, 69, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on October 26, 2025.

Born in 1956, Dr. Beggerly grew up in Alabama with a love of the gulf. He graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor’s of Science, followed by medical school at the University of South Alabama. He then completed his surgical residency at East Carolina University and finished his cardiothoracic fellowship at KU Medical Center. Clay was part of the team that started the cardiothoracic program in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as the team that started the Iowa Heart Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. After retiring from cardiac surgery practice, he started working as a team member in the wound clinic. He was highly respected and beloved by his many patients and teams no matter where he worked.

A lot of people knew Clay loved to cook; he found great joy in the kitchen and everyone was lucky when he brought food in to share. His generosity extended beyond his work–he nourished those around him in every sense of the word.

Clay is survived by his wife, Kathy of 39 years; his beloved children Martha, (Nat); Brandy; and Callie, (Christian); grandson Oliver; and sister-in-law, Linda Beggerly. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother.

A celebration of Dr. Beggerly’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 10am-12pm at the Iles Norwalk Chapel in Norwalk, IA. Please come as you are, Dr. B will be in jeans.
