DANIEL POTRATZ
Daniel Paul Potratz, 75, formerly of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Sacramento, CA at the VA Hospital, after a brief illness.
Dan was born October 8, 1949, in Emmetsburg, IA to Paul and Lois (Kelly) Potratz. He was raised in Whittemore, IA and later moved to Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Senior High then served in the US Air Force from 1968-1972. He worked for National Gypsum until 1988 when he and his family moved to Sacramento, CA. Dan joined Operating Engineers Local 3 Union and operated heavy equipment until his retirement in 2018.
Dan is survived by his wife, Scarlett; their children, Sal (Deanya) Potratz and Carey Potratz; grandchildren, Keely (Brodey) Huffman and Danica, Keahi, and Lyman Potratz; great granddaughter, Adalee Huffman; brothers, Jim (Karol) Potratz, Jon (Sandy) Potratz, and Mike Potratz; sisters, Sandi (Robin) Dancel, Karen (Jim) Grove, and Mary Potratz and her daughter, Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lois Potratz; and his son, Corey Potratz.
A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, November 2nd at Rides Banquet Center in Fort Dodge from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
