Catherine Schadegg
Catherine Ellen Schadegg, 94, formerly of Clare, IA, Pleasant Hill, CA and most recently Fort Dodge, IA passed away Wednesday October 15, 2025, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Hospice, Humboldt, IA surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday October 21, 2025, at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Clare. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. A Rosary will be said at 9:45 AM at the church.
The daughter of Michael and Marie (Hollister) Lennon was raised on a farm near Clare, Iowa and graduated from St. Matthew's Catholic School in Clare in 1949.
On September 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Donald Schadegg at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge.
As an Army wife, she moved her family to Jima, Japan, Karlsruhe, Mannheim, and Stuttgart, Germany, and Dreux Airforce base in France. The family returned stateside while Don served in the wars in Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. The years he wasn’t overseas, the family was stationed in New Jersey, Maryland, and Fort Huachuca Arizona. After retirement from the military, they made their way to California, a place they always wanted to be stationed but never had the opportunity. At age 59, she briefly joined the “family business” as a temporary letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Cathy was known for her love of bowling and the kindness and generosity she showed her family and neighbors. She found her happiest moments in the laughter and chaos of family gatherings.
Survivors include her daughters Deborah (Michael) Schuh and Cynthia Schadegg, Fort Dodge, IA, sons Mark (Donna) Schadegg, Noble, OK, and Steven Schadegg, Pleasant Hill, CA, grandchildren Tyler (Erica) Schadegg, Clare, IA, Parker Schadegg, Holly, MI, Lyle (Lauren) Schuh, Cedar Falls, IA, Martin (Mariah) Schuh, Fort Dodge, IA, Sean Schadegg and Ashley Schadegg, Noble, OK and Regina Roudebush, Sacramento, CA, great-grandchildren William and Catherine Schadegg, Clare, IA, Alice and Otto Schuh, Cedar Falls, IA and Mallory and Marcus Schuh of Fort Dodge, IA, and sister Patricia Mikelson, Fort Dodge, IA.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 68 years Donald Schadegg. Grandson Michael Keck, great-grandson Thomas Schadegg, brothers Jack, Richard, William, James, Michael Lennon, and sisters Veronica Hinds, Elizabeth Cummins, and Mary Margaret Lennon.
