Steven “Crooked” Gregory
Steven J. “Crooked” Gregory, 71 of Rutland, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Steven was born July 25, 1954 in Fort Dodge, the son of Jim and Barb (Johnson) Gregory. He was raised in Rutland and attended Humboldt Schools, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1972. He then attended Scott Community College in the Quad Cities, graduating in 1974 with a degree in motorcycle mechanics. He returned to Rutland where he farmed on the family farm. Crooked enjoyed attending auctions and collecting various items of interest, as well as building and working on motorcycles.
Steven’s survivors include, Bert of Humboldt, his daughter Jessi Bellinger (Rube), grandchildren; Aliyah Bastian, Monreau Bastian, Zion Green (Addie Birdsell) and Ezra Green, great-grandson Za’ Cari Green, his siblings Tom (Chi) Gregory and Sandy Himrod, nephew Eric (Melody) Himrod and great niece Hannah Himrod and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Savannah and brother-in-law Tom Himrod.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Rutland Town Hall in Rutland. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
