JoAnn Kluesner

JoAnn Kluesner, age 81, of Waverly, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Memorial in Waterloo, surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnn was born on August 8, 1944, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Crimmins) Hanrahan. She graduated from Fort Dodge St. Edmond High School and went on to become a hairdresser, working in Fort Dodge and Maquoketa before dedicating herself to raising her family.
On June 18, 1966, JoAnn was united in marriage to Patrick Kluesner in Fort Dodge. Together, they moved to several communities throughout Iowa due to Patrick’s career with Fareway. With each move–to Maquoketa, Algona, Fort Dodge, Harlan, and finally Waverly–they built warm, welcoming homes and formed lasting friendships.
JoAnn had a special gift for making others feel valued and at ease. She loved visiting with everyone she met and was known for her kind and generous spirit. A devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, she also gave her time volunteering at the Waverly Health Center. JoAnn found joy in her coffee groups, quilting, knitting, playing Bunco, and staying active. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Patrick of Waverly; four children: Lynn (Scott) Walston of Rochester, MN, Teresa (William) Weihs of Merrifield, MN, Steven (Michelle) Kluesner of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Jennifer (Todd) Tatroe of Waverly; eleven beloved grandchildren; and her sister, Judy (Michael) Cosgrove of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jeanean Hood and Janice Rolfes.
