Skip was born May 7, 1932, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. His parents were Sherman O. Roe Sr. and Rose (Giocomarra) Roe. He married Marcella (Sally) Ann Wiss on December 23, 1951. This union produced four children. He later married Connie McLuckie. Skip was born during the midst of the Great Depression to a poor family. He had to work hard to help the family scratch out a living during this time. These facts were a great influence on him for the rest of his life. He delivered newspapers when he was a very young boy. Skip shoveled driveways and sidewalks on snowy days for the princely sum of a quarter. A favorite memory of his was working in Montana one summer as ranch hand as a teenager. He spun many tales to his family about that adventure. In 1951, Skip started working for Tobin Meat Packing Plant in Fort Dodge, IA. This same plant was bought by Hormel, and he worked there until 1981 when Hormel closed the plant. He was credited for 30 years of service by Hormel, of which Skip was always proud. In 1962, he purchased a bar in Gowrie, IA, which became Skip's Tap. He operated the bar for 39 years until Skip sold the business. Also Skip raised hogs on his acreage just north of Paton, IA, with help of his family.

In later years, he enjoyed watching football games. He took many trips to Green Bay, Minneapolis, and even Dallas to see his beloved Packers to win a Super Bowl. Another hobby Skip enjoyed was cutting up dead trees on his farm and heating his house with the wood. He was very proud of that fact.

Skip is survived by his 4 children: Rosalie (Jim) Wolf of Gowrie, David (Lynda) Roe of Fort Dodge, Cameron (Marsha) Roe of Dayton, Shelby Roe of Glencoe, MN. His brother Michael of Cherokee, IA. He also is survived by many grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Emerson (Babe), Spencer, and sister Nyra Craigmile.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
