Renee Dencklau

Renee Kay Dencklau, 71, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Manson. Service will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Renee Kay Leadley, the daughter of Bernard “Hop” and Helen (Rebarcak) Leadley, was born July 1, 1954, in Storm Lake, Iowa, and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1972. Renee then attended ICCC and graduated in 1974 with her degree in nursing.

On August 3, 1974, Renee was united in marriage to Leo Dencklau in Fort Dodge, Iowa. And after their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home.

While in high school, Renee worked a variety of jobs, but her favorite was Target.

After Renee became a Registered Nurse she worked at Villa Care Center, 3 North, ICU and Radiology at Trinity Regional Hospital and retired after 41 years in July of 2020.

Renee enjoyed golfing, collecting antiques, collecting Coca-Cola, and scrapbooking. Her favorite thing to do was watch her grandchildren participate in any of their many activities.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Dencklau; their two children, Alisa (Andy) Schlief of Lehigh, Iowa, and Luke (Angela) Dencklau of Fort Dodge. Her absolute pride and joy were her six grandchildren: Dalton Dencklau, Braxtyn Dencklau, Rian Schlief, Jaxson Dencklau, Paxtyn Dencklau and Nixson Dencklau. She is also survived by her brother, Kim (Roxanne) Leadley of Fort Dodge, and their children, Adam (Jennifer) Vetter, Chanelle Leadley and Tyler (Alexis) Leadley (Toby, Theo, Lyla, Lucy, and Tyson).

She is preceded in death by her parents Bernard “Hop” Leadley and Helen (Rebarcak) Leadley, in laws Dennis “Smiley” and Emma Jean Dencklau, great niece LaKynn Leadley, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
