Arland Wiese

Arland Wiese, 91, went home to his Lord on July 12, 2025, at Friendship Haven under hospice care.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Military honors and graveside service will be held in North Lawn Mausoleum.
Arland Frederick Wiese, son of Frederick and Alma (Luckow) Wiese, was born January 31, 1934, in Carroll, Iowa. He graduated from Schleswig High School in 1952. Arland served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 -1956. He continued his service with the United States Air Force Reserve until 1960 and Iowa Air National Guard from 1963-1988, retiring with rank of Senior Master Sgt.
On June 14, 1959, Arland was united in marriage to Joanne Frank at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View. The union was blessed with 4 sons: Michael, Gregory, Dana and Mark. The couple later divorced.
Arland was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and volunteer for St. Paul School. His experience with electronics was invaluable in improving the sound system at St. Paul’s. He was strong in his faith and always had a smile to share. He enjoyed researching genealogy. Arland could often be found enjoying coffee with his friends at Village Inn, especially with Tim Habhab.
Arland is survived by his sons, Mike (Wanda) Wiese of Fort Dodge, Greg (Candy) Wiese of Huntington, IN, and Mark (Tracey) Wiese of San Diego, CA; 4 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, his sisters Ardeth Neumann and Mary Freeman, special friends Tim and Bette Habhab of Fort Dodge and Aaron and Rachel Palmer of Decorah, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his son Dana in 1967, his parents, his brother Lawrence (Alpha) Wiese.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
