Donald Henry Madsen

Born on May 26, 1937, Don embarked on a journey of service early in life, joining the Navy on July 15, 1954, and serving his country while stationed in the beautiful landscapes of Hawaii. After his military service, he contributed to significant infrastructure projects, notably working on the Oahe Dam in Missouri.

In 1958, Don met LaDonna and they were united in marriage on July 2, 1961, and shared 64 years of devoted partnership. Their early married life began in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they welcomed their two sons, David and Darrel.

Donald was preceded in death by his son, Darrel, his parents Henry and Violet, his brother Kenny (Easter), and his sisters Rose, Kathy (Terry), and Janice. He leaves behind his devoted wife, LaDonna, and his cherished son, David, along with his grandsons Justin (Natalie) and Josh (Larissa), and five beloved great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers LeRoy and Larry (Judy), and his sister Betsy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his vibrant intellect, active life, and joyful spirit.

A graveside burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2025, followed by a celebration of life at the family's annual Madsen reunion in Twin Lakes-Manson, Iowa.
