Gladys Laird
Gladys Laird, 99, of Otho, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM on Thursday January 30, 2025, at the Tompkins Celebration Center, Friendship Haven. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM on Thursday at the Tompkins Celebration Center. The Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys Elizabeth Laird, the daughter of Emerson and Mary Ellen (Dawson) Laird, was born December 7, 1925, in Otho and graduated from Otho High School. Gladys began her 40 years career in payroll accounting for Tobin Meats Packing and later the Hormel Company.
Gladys was a member of the Otho United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She also volunteered as the finance secretary for the Otho UMC, sang in the church choir, served as the clerk for the Otho Cemetery, and volunteered at the Otho School. In Gladys’ spare time she enjoyed traveling.
Gladys is survived by her eight nieces and nephews, Pam (Roger) Pannier, Joan (Dennis) Lee, Anne (Jerry) Hare, Carol (Roger) Harms, Debbi (Jeff) Shada, Janine VonSchaumburg, Kim (Debi) Nelson, and Leslie (Bill) Gibbs; and many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses, Jerry (Ann) Laird, Roland (Pauline) Laird, Mary Jane (Dick) Reed, Dorothy (Bill) Nelson, Sula (Ellwood) Jordison, an infant brother Robert, and a nephew Dr. Emerson Laird.
Memorials may be left to the Otho United Methodist Church or to the Good Samaritan Fund at Friendship Haven.
