Kathryn Smith
Kathryn Smith, 72, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial following at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Kathryn was born in Smithville, MO, on October 13, 1952, to Billy and Lova (Noble) Sutton. She graduated from High School in Aurora, CO. She met John Smith in 1969 and they were united in marriage on June 6, 1970. They made their home in Fort Dodge. Kathryn loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren. She loved music and was a fan of The Beatles and Jimmy Buffett. She enjoyed playing darts, shopping, and was a collector of a variety of things from Barbies to Longaberger Baskets.
Kathryn is survived by her husband John of 54 years; children Bill (Mallory) Smith and Joe (Laura) Smith all of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Kaden, Karsen, Madisyn and Ryland; her siblings Connie (Carl) Chinn and Frank Sutton. She was preceded in death by her twin daughters Penny JoAnn and Julie Ann; her parents and sister-in-law Yvonne Sutton.
