Gerald McInville Sr.

Gerald D. “Tex” McInville Sr., 84, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, in Johnston.

A service honoring Gerald’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post No. 1856 and the Iowa Army National Guard. The visitation is 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Gerald is survived by his children, Jacqueline (Rich) Remme, Fort Dodge; Gerald (Mary) McInville Jr., Johnston; Jennifer Fitzgerald, Fort Dodge; Jason (Nikki) McInville, Urbandale; 13 grandchildren, Angela, Joey, Jayde, Miranda, Jericka, Austin, Chase, Jonah, Preston, Carter, Addison, Brody, Kai and Zayden; two step grandchildren, Dakota and William; and six great grandchildren, Everly, Willow, Elliot, Dean, Kinsley and Colton. He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life Joyce, eight siblings, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cecil and Marie Davis to whom he was very close, and two grandchildren, Tiffiany and Jamie Jr.

Gerald Dean McInville, the son of Robert and Mammie (Stuart) McInville, was born April 16, 1940, in Bennetsville, South Carolina. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1960. Gerald served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. On December 24, 1967, Gerald was united in marriage to Joyce Davis in Watertown, South Dakota. Gerald was employed with Hormel’s for many years, and then was employed with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, from where he retired. Later, Gerald was employed for 20 years with Bickford Cottages.

Gerald was an avid fisherman and hunter. He helped to operate Joyce’s 22nd St. Emporium & Arcade. Gerald especially treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
