Thomas Beadle

Thomas Beadle, 84, died Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, with his family at his bedside.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 Saturday morning, October 19, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, Father Paul Baldwin will officiate. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00, Saturday at the church. You may sign the guestbook or leave a condolence at Goettschonline.com. Surviving is his wife Deanne, 5 children, Joseph (Nancy), Julie (Don) Arduser, John (Anna), Jacquline (Jon) Reyhons, Patricia Beadle, (Mick Baldwin), 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, Daniel (Virginia). He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Thomas Francis.
Thomas Richard Beadle was born December 5, 1939, at Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Thomas Francis and Ann Louise Heman Beadle. Tom graduated from St. Edmond High School in Fort Dodge. He received a scholarship to play football at Drake University and continued his education there.
Thomas married Deanne Broz April 23, 1960, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Fort Dodge. The couple lived in Fort Dodge for several years and Tom drove a beer truck, he worked at his father’s bar, Toms Place and Coats Manufacturing. On October 31, 1966, he began working at the Iowa Men's Reformatory in Anamosa. He retired from the Reformatory in 1995 as the Recreational Supervisor. He would later work at the alcohol plant in Hopkinton.
Tom was very active in the baseball world. He worked as a scout for the Cincinnati Reds and the Atlanta Braves. He would host open camp tryouts every year and held his last camp in 2022 before retiring. Tom was an active member of the Monticello Knights of Columbus Council 1821. He was a 4th Degree Knight and charter member of the Manchester Council.
