Diane Strayer

Diane Lee Strayer, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church and Schools. Burial will be 3:00 PM on Friday at the Lotts Creek Cemetery near Lone Rock, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Diane is survived by her two children, Carla Jo (Jeff) Sotzen of Plano, Texas, and Todd (Sherri) Strayer of Fishers, Indiana; two grandchildren, Cole Sotzen and Cody Sotzen both of Plano and two great-grandchildren, Landyn and Beckham, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by five siblings, Charolette Orange, Joan Peterson, Maryls Trice, Jane Link, and Terry Wichtendahl. Diane is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Sharon Mayhan, Janette Smith, and a brother; Darrell Wichtendahl.

Diane Lee Wichtendahl, the daughter of Edwin and Viola (Bell) Wichtendahl, was born July 15, 1939, in Lone Rock, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Fenton, Iowa in 1957. On October 12, 1958, Diane was united in marriage to Larry Strayer at the Lotts Creek Church near Lone Rock, Iowa. After their marriage Diane and Larry made their home in Biloxi, Mississippi, where Larry was stationed with the Air National Guard. After their daughter was born, the family moved to Fort Dodge. Diane worked for Hy-Vee as their cake decorator for 25 years before retiring.

Diane was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church & Schools and was very active at St. Paul's serving on several church boards and committees.

She loved baking, going to garage sales, shopping, volunteering at the Key, summer vacations at Spirit Lake, wintering in Florida, traveling, visiting family and spending time with the grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
