Celebrating a Life Well Lived: April 5, 1936 – September 5, 2024**
Born on April 5, 1936, in Badger, Iowa, and leaving us peacefully on September 5, 2024, this remarkable individual embraced a life filled with love, adventure, and service. A proud graduate of Fort Dodge High School in 1954, he went on to attend FDJC and Buena Vista College. His commitment to his country was evident in his service with the 133rd Air National Guard in Fort Dodge and the USAF Reserve in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In 1960, he embarked on a successful career with Hormel Foods Corporation, thriving in various sales territories including Indianapolis, IN; Gary-Hammond, IN; and the Quad Cities, IA. His career took him across Wisconsin, Chicago, and New England as District Manager, allowing him to meet wonderful people and make cherished memories.
It was in Indianapolis that he met the love of his life, Carol. The two married in 1964 and began a beautiful journey together. They raised three wonderful children: Eric, who, along with his wife Shannon and their children Eric Jr. and Olivia, lives in Milford, MA; Nils, who, with his wife Kristalee and their sons Hans and Lachlan, resides in Bethesda, MD; and Kristin, who calls Bellingham, MA, home.
Retiring in 1991, he and Carol moved to Clear Lake, IA, where they enjoyed a new chapter of life by the water. In 1998, they embraced the sunshine of Naples, FL, while still keeping a place at Clear Lake. Their love for family led them to build a home in Fayetteville, PA, in 2004 to be closer to their grandchildren. They continued their adventures, moving to different spots in Florida and finally settling in Woodbridge, VA, surrounded by family.
His days were filled with joy, whether he was golfing, snow skiing, biking, or boating on Clear Lake. He loved to lend a hand through volunteer work with Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, Salvation Army, and many other organizations. He also cherished his work at Give Kids the World and Reading Pals.
An avid traveler, Norris especially loved visiting his parent’s homeland in Norway, where he connected with his roots and met his paternal grandparents for the first time in 1959. Those visits were filled with love, discovery, and a deep sense of belonging.
His legacy is one of love, kindness, and a life lived to the fullest. He leaves behind a family who cherishes every memory and feels blessed to have been part of his extraordinary journey.
Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church is Woodbridge, VA, on date to be determined.
