Michael “Mike” Lenz
Michael “Mike” Raymond Lenz, 78, of Manson passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson with burial following at St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Thomas Catholic Church. A Rosary Service will begin at 3:40 p.m. prior to the visitation and a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted with Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home.
Michael was born on September 30, 1945 to Donald and Eunice (Garrels) Lenz. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1963. After graduation he went to work for the Manson Co-op until 1975. On May 31st, 1969, Mike married Sandra Taylor from Rockwell City, together they raised five children. He farmed with his two brothers until 2008, when he retired. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, farming and watching sports.
Michael is survived by his wife Sandy; sons Michael (Laurie) Lenz of Elkhart, IA, Stan (Penny) Lenz of Manson, Benji (Hillary) Lenz of Manson, Ryan (Mary) Lenz of Denver, IA and his daughter Katie Whitehill of Manson; in all there are 13 grandchildren; his sisters Carrie Markert of Manson, Donna (Kenny) Aljets of Pomeroy, Mary (Don) Vesely of Lincoln, NE, Helen (Gary) Sage of Amarillo, TX and Kathryn (Tim) Pogeler of Lake City; his brothers Dennis (Jean) Lenz of Pomeroy and Jack (Lesa) Lenz of Twin Lakes. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Helen Lenz, Tony Vesely, Kathy Axman and Alan Markert.
